Bad Baron is a new hard rock/sleaze band out of Finland with Ace Of Hearts being the debut album which delivers a tried and tested upbeat rock/sleaze crossover in a jaunty fashion but it has all been done before and much better by the giants of the sleaze genre but that is perhaps no real surprise given that this is the group’s first record. The band features Lauri Huovinen on vocals and bass and any Finnish readers may know of him already as he took part in the Voice Of Finland contest in 2020. He is joined by Tommy Widdow on guitar, Sammy South on drums and the Englishman Alex Kron on keyboards.
Bad Baron came together through a mutual love of artists like Whitesnake, Journey and Mötley Crüe which has helped to shape their sound but you can also add others such as Skid Row, Crashdïet and Hardcore Superstar giving them a flavour both of Scandinavian and American bump and grind meets sleaze rock. Lots of hooks and a delivery full of life make for an adventurous and enjoyable rock romp but the band still has much work to do to rival the heights of bands like Mötley Crüe but if you are going to dream then dream big!
