Block Buster is a new hard rock band formed in Kuopio, Finland by brothers Aarni and Jaakko Metsäpelto and their biggest claim to fame so far is that they were chosen to open for Bon Jovi despite still being under the legal age to play clubs in Finland and have since gone on to support Anthrax and Ghost amongst others.

Losing Gravity is the debut release and shows the band to be mature and clever songwriters and they have certainly honed their musical skills. Comprising Aarni Metsäpelto on lead vocals and guitar, Jaakko Metsäpelto on drums and vocals, Joonas Arppe on bass and vocals with Elias Salo on lead Guitar and vocals, they make use of the fact that all four can sing which makes for some great vocal harmonies. Despite their your ages, they have taken the hard rock of the ’70s and ’80s as their template as they blend hard, melodic and sleaze rock influences into a most assured album that ticks all the right boxes. There is definitely an element of L.A Guns mixed with The Darkness about them with their all energy and in-your-face attitude. Elias Salo provides plenty of killer licks and Aarni Metsäpelto has a voice and delivery reminiscent of the great Axel Rose which makes for an intriguing sound. The band is only at the beginning of their journey but they have made a most confident start with this assured, thoroughly rocking album.
