Chalice Of Sin is a new and very exciting heavy metal band built around the unmistakable vocals of Wade Black of Crimson Glory, Seven Witches and Leatherwolf fame. Whether it is a one-off project or a long term band commitment waits to be seen but based on the wonderfully epic heavy metal music that the band have recorded then let’s hope that it is the latter case; Chalice Of Sin is a band that we need to be around for years to come as they are classic old school metal of the timeless variety that remains every bit as valid today as those pioneering metal bands of the late ’60s and early ’70s were.
Wade Black is one of the more recognisable singers in metal with his sharp and aggressive tones which come across as a sort of Rob Halford meets Udo Dirkschneider and he would give any air raid siren in the world a run for its money! You only need a quick listen to detect the hand of Alessandro Del Vecchio on this album as he plays the bass and keyboards too. Martin Jepsen Andersen is indispensable on guitar and Mirkko De Maio is a savage drummer who leads the path down the emery path of heavy metal destruction, these boys are heavy, loud and most definitely proud of it too.
The songs are all perfect examples of how a heavy metal track should be put together and Black plus his writing partner Rich Marks deserve all the praise that they get for writing a collection of wonderful songs simply bursting with life and energy. Of course, many of the tracks concern events over the last year or so especially how the pandemic has affected both the world and individuals and it must be a great cathartic experience for musicians and song-writers to deal with such weighty issues by writing about them and turning terrible events into beautiful music. Wade Black has always been a much in demand singer and this Chalice Of Sin album will further enhance a reputation that, paradoxically, cannot be any further enhanced such is the esteem in which he is held. Del Vecchio again shows his prodigious talent with some incredible keyboard work with Martin Jepsen Andersen also showing that he too has very few equals when it comes to outstanding axmen.
Chalice Of Sin is an exciting new band with this debut being a real belter of an album and a perfect slab of hugely entertaining heavy metal and is very much recommended to fans of the likes of Accept, UDO, Judas Priest, Crimson Glory and Metal Church. This is another album that is a no-brainer as you simply have to have it, tells the neighbours to go out for the evening and revel in a true heavy metal delight at maximum volume, if the neighbours will not go out then invite them around and begin their education here.
