The very intriguingly titled Dead Dirty Dinosaurs is an indie-rock band from Brisbane, Australia with a down and dirty sound born out of post punk and a high energy approach reserved especially for powerful three-piece bands. The music is clever and well written and they obviously know how to play and you get the feeling that they could play just about any style they wanted. They seem to delight in rolling riffs that go on and on with excellent clean vocals and I know it’s crazy but they have a sound of a stripped down but updated INXS about them especially as the vocalist does seem out of the same mould as Michael Hutchence, a man with many personal demons but one hell of a singer!
Do not be put off by the post punk label, yes, they have the attitude and aggressive sound but also have plenty of skill to back it up and the talent to write perfectly crafted power pop/rock songs with plenty of melody and hooks. They are definitely a band to keep an eye on as these four songs show they have a well developed sound and skills aplenty.
