We now come to a new band from Sweden and if I had £1 for every time I had written those few words then I would be considerably richer than I am now! The conveyor belt that keeps churning out these new bands is never ending so it’s just as well that each one has a great deal to offer to the world of rock.

Ginevra is a band put together by a team of excellent and well-established musicians with Kristian Fyhr (Seventh Crystal) on vocals, the exceptional Magnus Karlsson (The Ferrymen, Primal Fear) on guitar and keyboards, Jimmy Jay (H.E.A.T.) on bass and Magnus Ulfstedt (ex-Eclipse, Nordic Union) on drums and surely that must be a team that whets your appetite and already has you reaching for your wallet. Of course, this being a Frontiers release then Alessandro Del Vecchio can never be very far away, and he has been heavily involved in the song writing process as well as supplying guest keyboards and, talking guests, Chez Kane also appears with vocals on the delightful ballad Masquerade. The band is fronted by the remarkable vocalist Kristian Fyhr who also fronts Seventh Crystal, a rather superior melodic band which released the most excellent debut Delirium in 2021, and no disrespect meant to them, but Ginevra is a superior vehicle for him to showcase his remarkable and most pleasing voice. Any group that features the talents of the genius that is Magnus Karlsson is sure to have that star quality and then add in the stellar rhythm section plus the vocals of Fyhr and you have a sure-fire winner.

The outfit is towards the heavier end of the melodic rock spectrum with Karlsson supplying some real fireworks and incredible riffs that blow you away with their intensity which means that Ginevra will appeal to those who like a little soft rock with it gorgeous and sumptuous harmonies and hooks but also to those who demand a little more balls in their rock and, as such, the band is very much all things to all men! For sure, they tread the same well-worn boards as bands like Europe, One Desire, Talisman, Treat and H.E.A.T which is all to the good, but they also have that little, indefinable touch of magic that marks a band out as something special and just a little bit different. You will love the duet with Chez Kane and her cameo is very special indeed but it is when the power is cranked up that Ginevra show their true colours.

Another new band from Sweden maybe but, by God, this is melodic hard rock on an epic scale.
