Infinite & Divine is an exciting and vibrant Swedish rock duo made up by the musician and songwriter Jan Åkesson who plays masterful guitars, bass, keyboards, programming as well as supplying backing vocals alongside Tezzi (aka Terese Persson), a lady with a huge and powerful voice that instantly commands your attention.

The project was put together in 2019 as it was thought that it would be a great idea to combine the heavy rock extravagance and majesty of Åkesson and the sumptuously powerful voice of Tezza surely a woman with a delivery that rivals the devastating effect of tectonic plates coming together! Try to imagine a combination of Tarja Turunen, Anneke van Giersbergen, Anette Olzon and then, from a different universe entirely, Adele and then you have some idea of what she has to offer but this only gives a flavour as you really must listen to her (loudly) to fully appreciate her total awesomeness.

Jan Åkesson is an exceptionally talented musician and you may be aware of his work with the Swedish heavy rock band Stonelake (and if not then please take the time to check them out) and he is an exceptional songwriter too. Tezzi also has an interesting background having performed in both metal and progressive rock bands and you can also sample her talents on last year’s Venus 5 release which featured Tezzi and no less than four other quality female singers in Herma, Karmen Klinc, Jelena Milovanovic and Erina Seitllari on a quite stunning melodic/symphonic album. She also appeared on the 2013 Epysode album Fantasmagoria which featured the combined talents of Mike Lepond (Symphony X), Simone Mularoni (DGM) and Tom Englund (Evergrey) so she has worked with some of the greats in metal.

So, the album features some stunning and riff heavy guitar from Åkesson and Jens Westberg again comes in to lay down some incredible drums and is every bit as integral to the bands sound. The debut, Silver Lining, came out in 2021 and announced the band as one to watch out for as their special and instantly addictive hard rock with symphonic elements showed perfectly composed hook laden songs with a vocalist with an immense voice. The band’s critical second album prophetically entitled Ascendancy continues where the first finished and is a continuation of the heavy rock previously seen but there is something of a pop sensibility in the material which makes it so immediately attractive. There is a neat touch too on the opening track Ashes To Ashes (not the Bowie song) that features a stunning keyboard solo from Mikael Hylén that leaves you wanting more and it would have been an even better album if he had featured on the other tracks too although Åkesson is also a most talented tickler of the ivories.

The music is timeless and intoxicating in its intensity and if you are into bands such as Nightwish, Within Temptation and Delain then you are going to love Infinity & Divine.
