Sanctuary is the latest album from the progressive rock juggernaut IO Earth. Following the critically acclaimed Solitude and Aura, they continue to mix styles and blend genres like no one else can. Linda Odinsen makes a spectacular return to the band, showcasing not only her powerful voice in Dance/Rock inspired track Running as well as the bombastic title track, but also her softer side in the beautifully minimalistic Close By.

The returning Odinsen joins founding members, Dave Cureton (Guitars/Bass/Keys/Vocals/Percussion) and Adam Gough (Keys/Guitar/Orchestration/Percussion), alongside the ever-present Luke Shingler and Christian Nokes on Sax/Flute/EWI and Bass respectively. On drums, Tim Wilson lets loose once again, showcasing a heavier and more technical side than his previous outings with IO Earth.

Dave Cureton and Adam Gough explore genres and subvert expectations in the way that IO Earth fans have become used to over the years, but there is a great feeling of forward momentum here. The album has a contemporary feel, with influences from Ambient, Dance, Nu-Metal, Jazz and others, both in content and in production techniques. The anthem tracks Running and Won’t Be Afraid show a totally new side to Dave & Adam’s compositional style, and are sure to attract attention. The album is pencilled in for release on 23rd June 2023.

IO Earth continues to put the “Progressive” into Progressive Rock.

The band have released their first song from the new album called Outside which is accompanied by an amazing animated music video by Wendy Hagenbeek.
