New Horizon is a new power metal project put together by former H.E.A.T. musicians Erik Grönwall and Jona Tee and it seems that Tee always wanted to produce a modern sounding power metal album that was based on the sounds of legendary bands such as Iron Maiden, Helloween, Hammerfall, Manowar and Edguy; a heady combination by anyone’s standards! His original plan was to incorporate a number of singers for the project but then Erik Grönwall came in to record two tracks and it just seemed so logical to Tree that Grönwall performed on all of the material and thus New Horizon was born.

Erik Grönwall is a powerhouse singer with a sound of Dio, Halford and Dickinson about his delivery which means he is just about perfect for any metal form with a voice as powerful as an air raid warning and a scream which can shatter crystal. Jona Tree is a talented multi-instrumentalist and he plays guitar, bass and keyboards as well as performing backing vocals with a host of guitarists brought in to supply solos on each of the tracks with drums courtesy of Robban Bäck (Mustasch). He has managed to get a host of high quality guitarists involved with Sam Totman (DragonForce) soloing on track 9, Love Magnusson (Dynazty) on track 6, Dave Dalone (H.E.A.T) track 3, Niko Vuorela (Temple Balls) on tracks 4, 5 and 9 and Laucha Figueroa on tracks 2, 7, 8 and 10 and all are spectacular and fiery! Together, they have produced a mighty fine power album that is a most pleasing mixture of the bombastic nature of Rhapsody Of Fire, the gorgeous soaring harmonies of Freedom Call and the sheer metal of Edguy and even Rainbow, check out the moody, magnificent and awe inspiring album closing Gate Of The Gods which could easily be considered as Gates Of Babylon part 2! The songs are inventive and epic in nature with Grönwall and Tree proving to be a wonderful pairing and the addition of jaw dropping guitar makes this a must have album from a new band making a very, very big statement. Frontiers could quite easily make this album available on a money back if you do not like it basis and I confidently predict that there will be no returns.

Gate Of The Gods is an inventive and moving work of the highest order and sits absolutely between classic heavy metal and power metal, sheer genius.
