If you follow the smoke from the industrial areas of any small town, wander through the empty streets and then listen to the tube amp blasting out dreams from the edge of town, you will find the spark that started Saturday’s Heroes over a decade ago.

Wanderlust & Hardships is Saturday’s Heroes’ fourth and most ambitious album yet, with each song taking the listener on a journey through the highs and lows of life. The album features ten hard-hitting tracks of high-energy melodic punk rock that explore a range of themes such as emigration, addiction, love and loss. Brought together, it perfectly captures the essence of a band making an album where all bets are off. Recorded with the acclaimed producer Niels Nielsen (In Flames, Dead Soul, Ghost, and MCC), the album showcases the Swedish band’s signature punk sound that blends hard-hitting instrumentals with anthemic lyrics. Fans can expect a celebratory and energetic tone that is sure to get them involved.

For fans of Bad Religion, The Clash, Rancid, Bruce Springsteen, Dropkick Murphys, Millencolin, NOFX, Wanderlust & Hardships will be released by Lövely Records on the 13th of October 2023. The album will be available on all streaming platforms and transparent turquoise vinyl.

When friends get together to carry out something, it does not matter where you are born or what type of cards you have been dealt. When the two brothers Alex and Mikael Lachan grew up in the small town of Finspång, music was the highway and the world was the destination.

For me, this band recreates the excitement that surrounded The Offspring; Green Day in their American Idiot days, and the US band The Gaslight Anthem on The 59 Sound. Playing together in the basement every day since they were kids, they formed a bond that would translate into an explosive live show years later. The band hammers out a sound that is energetic enough to sustain the excitement levels in live shows, talented enough to keep your attention and welcoming enough to let your voice sing the anthemic choruses like there was no tomorrow.

Over the span of their career they have previously released three full length albums, two EPs and multiple digital singles. They have toured Europe many times and played with bands such as Millencolin, Street Dogs, Asta Kask and received praise from bands such as Dropkick Murphys for their heart-and-soul-packed melodic punk rock.

The album starts off with the gentle opening notes of Bastard Son… before the signature raucous, breathless, hundred mph energy takes over and transports you to That Great Gig In The Sky. Impossibly toe-tapping, insanely energetic, mesmerisingly melodic, it’s just great fun! Compass is pure Green Day or Offspring, it just has that same raw passion that ricochets off every bone in your body.

How You Feel is more ‘mainstream Americana’-styles, Brooocie-babe in his early days would be proud of this, and The Gaslight Anthem created impassioned stuff like this out as well. You get the picture, they wear their hearts on their sleeves while belting out really tight good-time rock’n’roll. Scapegoat is again soaked in the essence of Green Day, and very good it is too!

One Way Ride continues those same musical influences and small-town experiences, they’re so obviously engrained in the DNA of this band you simply accept it and join in the fun. Tracks such as By My Side, Outrage,Time Wasted and Long Road Ahead follow in the same vein – yes there’s not too much variety or pushing of musical boundaries on this album but what they do, they do it very well and in a very impassioned way. The final track on the album kinda sums the album up, a full-on no-holds-barred party anthem…it’s not new but it is just humongously great fun! If you’ve ever “lost it” boogying to The Offspring, The Clash, Green Day or a score of other high-energy but tuneful new-wave bands this is definitely one for you!
