Formed back in 2010, Scream Maker is a most accomplished heavy rock band very much inspired by traditional metals bands like Judas Priest, Saxon, Iron Maiden and Accept with Bloodking being a modern metal classic but one very much forged in the Seventies.

The band hails from Warsaw in Poland with an original line-up that featured Tomasz Wiśniewski (vocals), Marek Nadstawny (drums), Piotr Zieliński (bass), Michał Korbacz (guitar) and Michał Wrona (guitar) although there have been many, many changes since those formative days with just Wrona now remaining as the sole original member. However, the current team does feature some long standing members with vocalist Sebastian Stodolak joining in 2011, bassist Jan Radosz from 2014 and Tomasz Sobieszek coming on-board in 2016. The guitarist Bartosz Ziółkowski completes the team being the new boy having only joined the band last year and it appears that he arrived too late to feature on this album.

Scream Maker released the debut album Livin’ In The Past in 2014 which also featured a cameo appearance from Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater) then Back Against The World came out in 2016 with Bloodking originally being a self-released album in 2022 but signing to Frontiers now means that the album gets a most worthy re-release as this is a metal album well worth listening too.

Bloodking hits the ground running and is a full-on metal fest being 68-minutes of soaring screaming guitars with a very Bruce Dickinson sounding masterclass from the strutting Sebastian Stodolak who is the consummate frontman. He directs proceedings with great aplomb over which Michał Wrona stuts and plays the metal god to perfection with a never ending series of outstanding and truly exceptional solos. It’s very much a case of Priest meets Dio meets Iron Maiden meets Scorpions and is an incredible homage to those metal pioneers whilst giving the music a real contemporary feel too.

If you thought that they no longer make heavy metal of this calibre then think again as Scream Maker with Bloodking have made a real statement of intent and most definitely watch out for the name as these guys could become huge.
