Silverlane is a melodic power metal band from the region of Franconia in Germany with the roots of the band going back to 1996 when they were known as The Rising Force but a rebrand in 2005 saw the band changing the name to Silverlane. They released their debut, My Inner Demon, in 2009 with Above The Others following rapidly on in 2010 with the band then simply drifting apart as they each got on with other matters in their respective lives but they have finally reconvened to bring us album number three in the curiously titled Inside Internal Infinity.
The new album also sees a relatively new line-up too with three of the original musicians not returning and now the band comprises new vocalist Tom Klossek with old hands Uli Holzermer on lead guitar, Chris Alexander on guitar and Daniel Saffer on bass with Basti Kirchdörfer being the new drummer. The sound remains very much the same with Klossek having a slightly higher registry on vocals than Ecki Singer but the band remains just as riff heavy and with the same pleasing melodic power metal delivery.
Strong songs remain at the heart of the band and they deliver perfectly with their very tight and compact sound. Maybe the loss a dedicated keyboard player changes the dynamic slightly but there are still some keyboards on the album but these are not credited and it could be possible that the band is looking for a hungrier guitar driven sound which they have achieved quite comfortably.
If you are a fan of the band of old then this album will be a most welcome release as it still has the most definitely sound of Silverlane but maybe just a little more melodic even thought the impressive hard driven guitar sound remains. The band now needs to get out on the road to announce the fact that they are back and mean business.
