Social Disorder is a project put together by the Swedish musician Anders La Rönnblom of Killer Bee, X-Romance and Wolfpakk renown with the debut album being 2021’s Love 2 Be Hated which was a spectacular hard rock album that Rönnblom wrote as a warts and all, cathartic release of all the personal demons that had haunted him through the years. It’s a real paradox that terrible times can be a catalyst for those of a musical persuasion to create something quite magnifiscent and that is exactly what Love 2 Be Hated was. It helped greatly that he brought in a team of incredible guest musicians to allow him to tell his story so perfectly and virtually all of them have returned for the second record which now feels more of a band scenario than a solo album with musicians brought in as hired guns!

Time To Rise sees a glorious combination of returning talent with guitarist Tracii Guns (L.A. Guns), bassist Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot, Ozzy Osbourne, Whitesnake), keyboard players Dave Stone (Rainbow) and Leif Ehlin (Perfect Plan), drummer Shawn Duncan (DC4) and the outstanding Thomas Nordin on vocals and what a find he has proven to be. Anders La Rönnblom is a versatile multi-instrumentalist and he also contributes bass and rhythm guitar and piano to the mix as well as writing and production duties and we even have a guest appearance from the well-travelled bassist Bjorn Englen on the track Going Blind.

As with the first album, Time To Rise is another joyous journey back in time to those halcyon days of the ’70s and ’80s when hard rock and heavy metal swept all before them as the band very much shows the influence taken from Bad Company, Whitesnake, Dio and Deep Purple at their funky and raunchiest best. The guitar work is exceptional which should come as no surprise given the quality of Tracii Guns and he is perfectly supported by some quite outstanding musicians as they all deliver delicious hook-laden hard rock that harks back to yesteryear but is still as fresh, vibrant and relevant today. Add in the tremendous vocals of Thomas Nordin who delivers in style with a voice somewhere between David Coverdale and Joe Lynn Turner and you have a sure-fire winner.

If you think that they do not make hard rock like this anymore then give the record a spin and prepare to be amazed.
