Formed in Alicante in 2015, this is the accomplished debut album by the Spanish heavy metal band War Dogs. They line-up with Alberto Rodríguez on vocals which he supplies in English but with a rather delightful Spanish inflection with the hard working and riff hungry twin guitarists of Eduardo Antón and Enrique Mas and the equally hard working duo in the engine room of Manuel Molina on bass and José V. Aldeguer on drums.

War Dogs are all exceptionally skilled musicians and the album is full of well written and executed songs and all brought to life by the killer guitar runs and warm and emotional vocals. Die By My Sword is a mature, confident and strutting rock album that is a fully developed and in your face debut that shows a band that can rock big style. They also show a touch of class by including a neat number called The Shark which is a tribute to the American singer Mark Shelton of Manilla Road fame who sadly passed away in 2018 and the track is made special with current Manilla Road singer Bryan Patrick also featuring.

War Dogs have produced a great modern rock album built on the templates established by those great metal bands of the 70’s and 80’s and it is hugely enjoyable.
