Warzaw is a new heavy rock band from Trondheim in Norway with the wonderfully titled Werewolves On Wheels being the bands self released debut album. A quick look at the cartoon based album cover screams biker rock and that is pretty close to the band’s style as this is hard and heavy retro rock influenced more by the ’70s rock movement than the slightly more glossy and refined version of the ’80s.

The musicians all have previous experience in rock coming from the bands Shotgun Rodeo, Pelagic and Blånæggel and have managed to produce a damned near perfect hard rock classic album which owes much to the energy of Motörhead and the blues derived mayhem of early Black Sabbath. There is a very British sound to the band with Daniel Rønning having a great rock voice and totally accent free as you expect from Scandinavian bands and there is a wonderful total excess of guitars from Håvard Alvarez on lead and rhythm guitars and Trond Jullumstrø also on lead, rhythm and bass guitar with Mats Sødahl on drums. The guitar work is awesome with lots of riffs, huge solos and guitars in unison making this a hard rock delight built upon excellent some really drum work.

Warzaw is a band totally in tune with each other and playing hard but melodic and timeless rock that needs to be played at maximum volume so that the foundations of your house shake. This is a delightful 39 minutes of retro, hard and heavy metal that will have you playing air guitar and head banging along with the band within the first minute and if the devil ever comes knocking at your door then he will be playing Werewolves On Wheels on his personal stereo! If you like old school metal then you simply must hear this, satisfaction guaranteed.
