Born in Detroit, raised in New York City and currently living in Asheville, North Carolina, Caitlin Krisko has been influenced by the sounds of East Coast rock and roll, Motown, and roots music. Krisko has been stunning audiences across America and Europe touring relentlessly with her own brand of roots-rock filled with soaring vocals, powerful grooves, emotional lyrics, and undeniable songwriting – and more than a hint of the band and voice of Shania Twain…very poppy and radio-friendly even when dealing with the darker experiences of life.

The band has shared the bill with artists such as Mavis Staples, Marcus King, Blackberry Smoke, Margo Price, The Avett Brothers, Greta Van Fleet, and Robert Jon & The Wreck. The band has worked with producers such as Eric Sarafin (Ben Harper, Foreigner, Barenaked Ladies), and Jim Scott (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Johnny Cash, Grace Potter) while also releasing 2020’s album Lost My Sight working hand in hand with legendary session giant; previous member of Tedeschi Trucks Band, and David Bowie’s Blackstar “Tim Lefebvre” and current TTB drummer Tyler “Falcon” Greenwell.
After the unexpected death of her mother in 2023, Blueprints is an introspective reflection on the waves of emotion that follow such a loss. The EP puts the listener in the front seat for the Krisko experience as she turns to the music to capture her grief. Caitlin delivers soaring melodies while simultaneously pouring her soul into the centre spotlight of the album. The EP has six new songs, opening with Blue Monday which features the band’s trademark catchy rhythms and Caitlin’s softly emotive voice in a hugely radio-friendly number.
Devil on Your Side continues an unexpectedly up-beat arrangement. Very 80’s in vibe, very danceable in tempo and percussion-led, very enjoyable! Haunted By You is a complete change of mood, it’s a soft slow blues number that proves a perfect vehicle for Caitlin’s heartfelt lyrics and heart-rending vocals. Wonderful singing, reminding me so much of Linda Ronstadt? The band themselves are restrained but superbly tight, some lovely licks proving that less is sometimes more. Very moving….
Have to Say Goodbye is slightly more rocky in vibe, giving a more positive edge to still quite haunting lyrics. Caitlin delivers another superlative vocal performance, aided and abetted by some perfectly pitched lead licks from guitarist Aaron. Operator lifts the mood and pace a notch or three, another punchy, 80’s East Coast club feel to it. This is a seriously decent band performance!
Piece of You concludes the song-set, it’s a groove-heavy rocky track, the meatiest on the EP, powerful drums, driving bass, and raw blues and rock guitar working together to deliver a saturated roots rocks experience done with a masterful and heartfelt touch. All in all, this is a tasty, very well written set of songs from a really tight, accomplished band. It’s definitely worth catching Caitlin Krisko & The Broadcast on their tour across the UK throughout the rest of 2024.
