Gutter Creek is a new Canadian/Danish hard rock band made up by a trio of well established veterans of the metal scene which came together last year and their eponymous, no hold barred debut truly packs a punch like a heavyweight champion.
The band comprises vocalist Søren Adamsen (ex-Artillery), guitarist Matt Hanchuck (Wreck-Defy) and drummer Derrick Kroll (ex-Alphakill) with several guests included in the roster with Justin Stear on bass and Doug Piercy supplying the solos on six of the songs with Matt Hanchuck soloing on Silent Killers, At Piece With Miser’ and Serpent King. The music is a pleasing mixture of styles with heavy metal, stoner and just a little southern rock calling to mind the force of nature that was Motörhead, Black Label Society and even Brian Setzer. Do not expect any love songs or ballads from Gutter Creek as this is straight forward, uncomplicated hard rock with guitars, drums and vocals and no Fancy Dan stuff either, just lots of riffs, solos and superb whisky and cigarette infused gritty vocals that is hard core old school heavy rock. Gutter Creek is a band and an album that quite simply has to be played as loud as possible and when your ears start to bleed then you have reached the perfect sound level.
Turn it on and simply watch ant worries drift away as you settle back into a comfortable heavy rock journey of delight.
