The Blackheart Orchestra are embarking on a UK tour which will see them traverse the length and breadth of the country during April, May and June.
TBO are a two-person ‘orchestra’ playing up to 13 instruments in their unique live show. Their symphonic use of vintage synthesisers, acoustic and electric guitars, mandola, bass, bowed guitar and percussion, piano, organ, omnichord and melodica creates highly emotional music that has been described as a modern day Pink Floyd, a more accessible Portishead and with many comparisons to the creativity of Kate Bush among many others.
Their highly acclaimed album Mesmeranto entered the Official UK Rock Chart at No.18, hailed as “A mesmerising powerhouse” “An avant-garde musical utopia” and “A life-enhancing listening experience”. Singer Chrissy Mostyn was voted No.8 in a UK female vocalist poll and named “One of the most extraordinary voices singing anywhere today”.
Having gained a lot of new admirers in recent years following two separate UK tours as special guests to Hawkwind, and proved themselves equally adept at playing to a large theatre as to a smaller venue, nevertheless is can be argued that The Blackheart Orchestra are never experienced in quite the same way as when, as with this tour, they are playing a full set in a more intimate setting, allowing the full experience of their multi-instrumental show to be observed and appreciated in close quarters.
